Frequently Asked Question

At our Martial Arts Gym we are frequently asked the same questions from people wishing to commence training. A lot of people are nervous about starting Martial Arts and they don’t know what to expect so here are a few questions and answers which we hope may help you

Yes, our academy is very beginner friendly! We offer a range of classes specifically designed for those who are new to martial arts. Our experienced instructors provide personalized attention to ensure that each student learns the fundamentals safely and effectively. Whether you have no prior experience or are looking to brush up on your skills, you’ll find a supportive and encouraging environment here. Our beginner classes focus on building a strong foundation, improving fitness, and boosting confidence.

The frequency of your training depends on your goals, availability, and current fitness level. For beginners, we recommend starting with 2-3 classes per week to allow your body to adapt to the new movements and techniques. As you progress and your fitness improves, you may choose to increase your training frequency to 4-5 times per week to advance your skills more rapidly. Remember, consistency is key in martial arts, so find a schedule that you can maintain over the long term. Additionally, incorporating rest days into your routine is crucial to avoid injury and ensure proper recovery. Our instructors are here to help you create a training plan that fits your needs and goals.

We cater to a wide range of age groups at our academy. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and suitable for all ages:

Kids (5-13 years old): Our children’s classes focus on building fundamental skills, discipline, coordination, and confidence in a fun and engaging environment.

Teens (13-17 years old): Teen classes are tailored to provide a balance of technical training, physical fitness, and mental development. This age group can also participate in more advanced techniques and sparring sessions.

Adults (18+ years old): Our adult classes accommodate all skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. We offer various class options to suit different fitness levels, interests, and goals.

Seniors: We also cater for older adults, focusing on low-impact techniques, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being.

No matter your age, you’ll find a welcoming community and experienced instructors ready to help you achieve your martial arts goals.

Open mat is a designated time when our academy’s training area is available for students to practice independently or with others in an unstructured format. During open mat sessions, you can:

Practice Techniques: Work on the moves and skills you’ve learned in class at your own pace.

Drill with Partners: Pair up with fellow students to drill techniques, spar, or practice specific scenarios.

Ask for Guidance: While not a formal class, instructors are often present and can provide advice, answer questions, or give tips on improving your technique.

Experiment: Use the time to explore new techniques or refine aspects of your martial arts practice that you find challenging.

Open mat sessions are a great opportunity to get extra practice, develop your skills, and interact with other members of the academy in a more relaxed setting. It’s also a fantastic time to build camaraderie and learn from the diverse experiences of your peers.
